Back in January a neighbor gave me his old laptop said it would not boot. So me a computer nerd did some looking and found a fix so being me I let him know and he said I already got a new one keep it for yourself. Well I was able to fix it myself so voila a new (to me) laptop which loml promptly said ooh thanks for the gift honey lol. Anyways same thing last night it went down so here I am up bright (well not so bright) but early and just finished the repair again simple just have to take the whole thing apart. This is a Compaq V6000 and the issue is the video card overheats and becomes unsoldered from the board and I learned this fix on youtube. This problem is common with all the V and DV laptops Compaq & HP sold. Let me know if you want the link and need to fix your own. Just thoought I would pass this along.
