Hey folks, I have been lurking for a while, now I have a question.

A friend of mine played football at Oklahoma, and requested a pen in OU crimson. He was very specific about wanting a darker shade of red. I can't find an artificial blank that color, or a wood stain that seemed close either.

Any recommendations or suggestions? If someone wanted to cast one...or several...I would be willing to buy them.

While I was searching, I remembered a color I had seen on a chess set. I found it again at the House of Staunton website. They call it "Blood Rosewood". I can't find anything else called that on the web, So I am pretty sure it is just a certain wood or finish that they use. Any ideas about how to get that color? Is it just bloodwood? Freaking awesome chess sets, for freaking big bucks!

Thanks for any help, Frank

I'm sure Master Caster Brooks could do a Crimsom and Cream swirl that would make any Sooner fan drool.

Exceptional Chess set, I guessing the "Blood Rosewood" is a marketing name for your standard rosewood with an additional red dye or stain of some type added.

FWF, I like that but he would say not dark enough.

Wayne, I did consider it but I could not find a good dye.

After I posted the question, I was looking at Toni's latest pen, and that gave me the idea of doing it in clay.

Keep the ideas coming! I have to get to sleep...work calls soon...

Analine dye

I didn't notice where you are located, But, I have a mixed up jar of crimson just for the occasion.
I'm in Tulsa, maybe I can help. I'll see if I can mix up some more.

I also have O State burnt orange to take care of both sides of the state.

I am in Laplace, where else?

Oh, where is Laplace? Just west of New Orleans, where I-10 an I-55 meet.

So a jar of crimson what, exactly? Certainly any help appreciated.
