Rescued this birch log from the city dump in September. Got about 4 small blanks from it. Here is the first one that has been re-turned.

Birch 6" diam 3" high. Shellac then danish oil.

The drying left it a little out of round, as you can see from the rim thickness.

No scraper (for hollowing) all bowl gouge. Which is a first for me. Also first bowl with the sorby sandmaster. A good little tool.

Great bowl!

Pretty much all wooden bowls are going to "move" a little after turning it's the nature of the beast I think. But in the end it doesn't distract from their beauty or functionality.
