I had this blank in a miscellaneous bin, unidentified. Turned this European 8mm Double Twist, sanded thru 1000 grit ANSI, and finished with friction sanding sealer and friction polish, NO wax. Sorry, but as I noted in another thread, the only camera I have is on my phone, so the quality is what it is. If anyone has any idea as to what this wood is, I'd appreciate your input. Thanks in advance.

Don

Thanks. Possibly Myrtle, I just don't remember buying any myrtle. What do you think about Water Oak. We had a couple dozen pre-civil war Water Oaks around our house that were toppled by a tornado in 2011. I salvaged some of that for turning stock, but I can't remember if I cut any pen blanks.
