I've always been buying what I use from Monty.

I did use that earlier on my bowl making to accelerate CA fills on holes, cracks, etc and it works fine. Pure baking soda will accelerate CA super fast and will turn it white (due to bubbles and cracks). Diluted solution will be less "violent" but as mentioned, I never tried it on my finishing.

I have used just plain distilled water before. Also you can just breath on CA to cure it the moisture in your breath will be enough to kick it off.

"Cyanoacrylate is an acrylic resin that cures (forms its strongest bond) almost instantly. The only trigger it requires is the hydroxyl ions in water, which is convenient since virtually any object you might wish to glue will have at least trace amounts of water on its surface."

I borrowed the text from here.
What makes super glue super.
