Tim that looks like it has been laying on the ground of a building site for over a month. You might have cleaned the dirt off first:mad:

Skippy, maybe some of us aint afeard of using really natural stuff, although I would NEVER use catturds. I aint gotta have no fancy store bought nuts and bolts or fancy plastics to make a pen:confused:. And I don't hafta hide my gouged pen in a sponge neither.:embarrassed:

Sierra GoldiRocks

Not quite freestyle perhaps, but it is an experimental PR home brew on a Gold Sierra.

OK, here is my second entry. This is the best cactus pen I have made and is a new color I came up with that I call Magma Red. It is a Jr. Statesman that has been modified to make the main body 1/4" longer than normal. The stock length is just too short and uncomfortable to me.

I see others have posted their pens in the other boards on this forum too. Are we allowed to do that or is it just here?? Or it doesn't matter?? Thanks.

tranny and threads inside nib from sierra.
stainless nib and finial...

somebody needed to show the "rat" that a stainless bolt can end up looking like something other than a bolt!

just wish I could get a decent photo

Lou,

Very nice pen, but unfortunately the diagonal lines don't match in the segmenting (an attempt at a stained glass look?) of the second pen, as it also doesn't match in the diamonds of the inlay of the first one.

And the inspiration/history the others talk about is not something tangible that I can see so it unfortunately doesn't have any effect on me when I look at it: I still see faults in both pens.

And what are those thingy sticking out of the cap on each side of the clip of the top pen's picture?

Still I admit they weren't contenders for the ugliest pen contest:that contest's entries ARE truly ugly pens!!!

Good luck to you anyways,

Curtis,

That cactus pen blank is awesome dude!
And if this were a pen blank contest you'd be right up there for sure.

Too bad the finished pen doesn't look as original, it's just a very nice pen.

Good luck anyways,

I see you used a superb 50 grit sandpaper finish and you weren't too worried about fit either. We are probably lucky the photo is so bad.

Curtis,
I've heard of people having that problem, just not admitting it in public!:crying:

And Fred, it looks like you cast a pile of clipped toe nails in that pen. Couldn't you have come up with some cat turd instead?

How many more bolt grinders are we gonna have to endure anyhows?

One other note, if your name is not on the above list you don't qualify for the trash talker award either. If you've gotten in a good comment, I suggest you enter a pen just to get in the running.

Few more hours to my sweet victory! Just a pen with a few divots they say. Those that did pay attention know that spongebob is not just a pen holder, he is also the cap of the pen. Not to be defensive, but just so the judges know too. He has a tube inside and a threaded insert that the pen twists into. But you can't put him in your pocket unless you are Big Foots big brother!
And fortget the pen with 275 pieces...my cube pen and box is 1000 pieces !!!!

Anthony , Hot air don't count for nothing if you don't enter one of these pens that you are saying you can make . You know the saying "No pictures , it didn't happen "

Jeff , we will see if the judges agree after I expose your bad attempt at putting one over on us

Ben, I'm really sorry to read about your father-in-law. Can't you take some time out from this and be with your family? I'm sure one of the judges or even one of the mods can take over.

Go and do what you need to do.

Very best wishes to you and yours
Steven

"Mr. Humble" didn't mention that his "cover pen" is made of casein. Do a little research and you will find plenty of appropriate ways to destroy his masterpiece, without even TOUCHING it.

Ed, I like my meat RAW

Who you calling a covergirl? I'm not the one that goes by SKIPPY

The reason you boys don't read Stylus is, you guys cry spending 5.00 for a pen blank, let alone 5.00 for a magazine.

You underestimate them, Anthony.

EVERY ONE of them has a $5 copy of the latest mags hidden under the bed!!! Just not a great deal of interest in high-end naked pens! (sorry, writing instruments)

A 75 year old truck driver that still plays with Spongebob and is to cheap to buy a pen blank that he has to scronge arond and glue 1000 pieces of wood together to make a pen  I thought we screened members before joining ??? WHat will we see next....his Pee Wee Herman collection

Geez! For awhile I didn't know if this was a real PEN contest or another kind . . . "family site and all."
Now I think I can post my entry.

Sue, this is where I would come in and say something really rude and cruel, But it was a pleasure to meet you at the LA Pen show, I liked your display and hope you did well, see you next year. :)

Oh ....nice job on the pens.

Anthony, Anthony, Anthony......BIG fat deal if your crummy pen was on the cover of a Pen Porn mag. Mine's on the coffee table, I've got another one on top of the telly. What's your point???

Besides, the editors of Stylus must be desperate to feature a KIT pen!!!!!
May as well just buy a CSUSA mag!!!!!

Must admit that they aren't TOO bad though:wink:

I thought we are having a "trash talk" contest. So far I haven't seen anyone really talking about trash, mostly just bashing the pens and each other.:frown: So here's some trash talk for ya'll to use as an example.

So, I've looked at the pens that have been entered in the freestyle pen contest and most (or all) of them should be thrown in the trash. In fact, some of these pens look like they have been made with trash to begin with. Have ya'll run out of respectable pen blanks and need to rummage through the trash bin to get enough material to make a pen? I mean really, weren't the trash pens supposed to be entered in the "ugly pen" contest?

OK, now let's see some real trash talk.
