A clean shop is the best sign of a "sick" mind! I must be totally sane. I haven't seen my floor in years.
You have been away from the lathe too long when you pick up the wrong end of a freshly sharpened Skew! DAMHIKT either.

Don't do it. That is insulation. Helps keep your feet warm so you can turn in comfort.

My feet aren't the problem, the possibility of my hands freezing to my gouge, that's the problem... One of the problems....
No turning for me for another 3 months or so :bad:

We've got LED lights, so no heat to speak of. It's really tempting, I really don't need the very end of the blank for anything

Your shop has a floor?? all ours has is 2 feet of wood chips in one section and a bunch of Stainless steel swarf/chips stringers and assorted sharp nasty stuff. I did find 3 square inches of top on my desk though.

A kerosene heater and a third stall. My husband is cool with parking his car in the driveway 3 seasons out of the year, but would draw the line if I made him scrape his car every morning.
There are plans for an eventual garage expansion (and a deck, and a covered walkway between the house and the garage and...) once the kids are out of the house and our money is our own again. At that point we can install a heater.

good luck with that "kids out of the house" my youngest is back at home for the 3rd time after moving out. this time his significant other and my grandson. its growing not shrinking. at least they brought me a little helper.

When my kids left home I told them they were welcome to come and stay as long as they liked any time......of course I also told them that some things never change "my house - my rules, regardless of how old you are, if you live under my roof you play by my rules". None of them would dream of coming back.
