you hurt yourself sleeping!

woke up this AM with ridiculous pain in one finger...no swelling, not tender to the touch, feels like there's a nail from tip to base! I was warned that "after 40, it's patch, patch, patch", but seriously...I was just SLEEPING!

And here I thought it was when you started hearing the music you listened to in high school on the "Classics" station.

Seems an endless endeavor is learning how to sleep while avoiding the pain of it when waking up.

I gave up volleyball and golf... shoulder, knee and ankle surgeries and rehabs in 5 years told me I was too old for "fun" stuff. Nursed the shoulder and knee with Cortisone shots for about 6 years, they do help! I really don't want to give up sleeping!

I was told a long time ago that if you wake up in the morning, after turning 40, with nothing hurting, that you died during the night. I'm 67 and I truly believe it!

Ain't that the truth. Even worse is after 10 years of being retired I still occasionally have this vivid nightmare of being back at work on a contract and they won't let me out of the contract, and then when you wake up you're still in pain.

I'd take a "little" pain to be in my 40's again! I'm thinking that would be better than "big" pain in my 60's!

Welcome

Hey welcome to the world. If I ever wake up and nothing hurts, I'll figure I had died and gone to heaven and never get out of bed.

You know you're getting old when you bend down to tie your shoelaces and think, "As long as I'm down here, is there anything else I need to do before I get up"?

I knew I was over the hill when I had to trade in my old clock radio for one of those "giant numbers" digital clocks so that I can see what time it is on my too frequent middle-of-the-night bathroom trips.

You know you're really old when you need glasses to find your glasses.

My Mom used to tell me that the "golden years" of a person's life is when you take all of your gold and give to the Doctors just to feel normal. I now know what she ment.

Jon Sleep is way over rated, you miss so much, unless of course you're driving.

The nice part for me is now with the juice in my spine, I CAN GET OUT of bed.

Welcome to my world, too. So far, I can just "go get a shot". Doc says sooner or later the shot won't work any more.

Andy my hip keeps telling me that, I had to walk all over a BIG hospital with my wife today, to get things set up for her surgery next week. Had to eat some Vicodin afterwards, first time since the last of three shots in the back. But at least I can walk, and stand up. I must have walked a half to three quarters of a mile and even though my hip hurt like fire, from rubbing the dry parts together it felt good to move again

"I hope I die in my sleep, just like grandpa"!!

Not screaming and hollering, like the rest of the people riding in his car.:biggrin:

Well I fell asleep in the chair last night. I woke up, to what I thought was a ufo, in my front yard. Scared the hell out of me! Turns out it was lots of yellow and white lights on the city trucks patching a hole in the pavement. It was 3am and pouring down rain.

Yeah funny thing when I hit 40 it hit back, bad thing is at 55 it still whacking me!

Well, can't remember who said it, or if it is a proverb in Persian, however here it is: they say if you die before 40 for every year God owes you, but after 40 for every year that you live you owe God. and guess what the mortality rate is down and they are trying to keep us alive longer with more aches and pain. I think it's because God bank needs to be bailed out.
Now, ache is what the aging is all about and no one has ever wrote a manual on aging yet so we know how to deal with it.
As far as sleeping is because as you get older you have more stuff loaded up in your brain that keeps you awake. Younger ones don't have as much as we do in their head to keep them awake at night. Then again who else is going to keep the pharmaceutical co.s in Bus.?

To anyone having trouble sleeping....I have a non-pharmaceutical product that works great. PM me for more information.

No always get my 3 hrs in. Drives my Doctor crazy that that is all the sleep I need. Really upset him when he found out that my grandfather, father, uncles (on dads side), brother, & son all were or are that way. The odd thing is my aunts, sister, & niece all sleep 6+ hours. Swmbo always has said I guess he will sleep when he dies, just hope she doesn't have plans:biggrin:

Me too, I don't care if I go to bed at 10PM or 2AM, 3 to 4 hours and it's time to be up doing something ! I guess it comes from 40 years in construction. Or maybe being married to a Redhead for almost 36 years and I don't want to keep my eyes closed too long around her!:biggrin:

Hmmmm

Last night I dreamed I was awake and woke up and I was asleep.

My Steven Wright moment came when I fell asleep in my dream, Then I dreamed I woke up, but now I'm not sure?
Awhile back I dreamed that I awoke got up and went into the bathroom - I actually woke up when I moved in my dream trying to take my pajamas off to get in the shower.

when I leave my eyes and ears on the dresser when I go to bed. I don't get muscle cramps at night because I drink a glass of water before turning off the lights, now I wake up to pee instead.
