LOML will be looking for the evil guys that introduced me to acrylic! My first one was ok but this one got me all excited. The photo isn't good but it shines! Help me out here, what needs fixing?

how did you finish it? I just run through the micro mesh set and just turns out super shiny. Maybe somebody out there has a better idea of what needs to be done than I do. Oh and by the way, I a wet sand through all the micro mesh grits.

Oh! and you have a very nice pen.

I sand to the finest grit I have then use a metal waddding polish (Duraglit) Finishing off with a soft lint free cloth to remove any residue left by the polish. Works for me.

For me finishing acrylics takes maybe three minutes to get a glass shine. I use my Beale buffing system: http://www.woodcraft.com/family.aspx?familyid=2036

If you don't have a slow-speed grinder they have a version for the lathe: http://www.woodcraft.com/family.aspx?familyid=5183

If you would like to see a demonstration watch Ed's video on 3D bottle stoppers: http://content.penturners.org/video/3Dresin_3.wmv

I finish my acrylics the same way I finish my CA'd wooden pens. I sand with 400, 600, 800 and the polish with Hut Plastic polish....get a glass like finish everytime [:D]
