I had a great time today as the 3rd string teacher in the Learn to Turn pavillion at the Dallas Woodworking show, held in Fort Worth. My two pen mentors Don Ward and Seamus Rooney included me in the non-stop action of helping a hoard of people turn their first pen.

When I got a chance to look up, I saw something that made me stop and pull out the camera phone -- Seamus turning a pen from the back side of the lathe! (Don tells me this is normal in Japan ) Going back tomorrow to see if he can do this blindfolded!

I just had to pass this on. I hope it doesn't get him kicked out of the Guild!

Harry

:eek:yikes!!! maybe no one will notice!! I too had a great time today! Unfortunately, we went had to cut it short and head home this evening and wont be able to return tomorrow, but i really enjoyed getting to see everyone that showed up to say hello and also those who came to make their first pen! (Black_Pearl)Cliff Dewitt and (lwalden)Lyle Walden stopped by and several others that i am now drawing a blank for some reason(no pun intended).

The fist picture looks like the young lady was more interested in Seamus, or maybe like you impressed with turning on the back side. From what I can tell by her shirt she into shooting sports so better not poke too much fun. Looks like a good time and a great time to learn a few things as well. Wish I had the time to stop in and say hi.
