During work related travels I came across a field of these cactus.

Raised by a guy who has a cactus hobby. He gave me a couple of the pads, I cut off the outside skin and blasted them with high-pressure H2O.

The skeletal structure was not what I expected, it’s almost non-existent. Is this the wrong type of cactus?

Thanks!!

A few things...

No, those are not the wrong type of cactus necessarily, they are just too "young" and too green. I use only dead cactus pads that are much older and mature. Also, if the pads are green, you are wasting yor time. I look for brown dead ones that are full of nasty mush. Shoot me an e-mail if you want more information.

Here now, I have been trying to find these "nasty mush" cacti. All I can find are the nice green healthy ones. Maybe all that "cosmic energy" has made our soil more fertile.:D

Thanks Curtis, will shoot you a e-mail when I get into work this morning. Wow, too young, I didn't include a ruler, but these puppies are a good 9", I have couple others bout 14" long. Will have to go for the un-healthy look next time.
Thanks!!
