Pardon me if this post has happened numerous times. I have finished several pens with CA and had great results UNTILL I carry them some. I work in a restaurant so high heat and humidity are par for the course. I noticed that my new carry pen was developing white spots in the finish. HELP ME PLEASE! Has anyone ever used Poly over a CA finish with any good results?

Thanks!

I fixed this problem by rubbing DNA on my blanks as they are spinning, as the very first step in my ca process. Also, after you abranet with 600, right before your last ca application, use BLO to remove the dust residue.

This will fix your problem.

End grain is another spot (pun intended) where moisture can get under the finish. Seal the end grain with thin CA after turning and just before applying CA finish. Just put a drop of glue on a piece of plastic and dip the ends of the blank into the glue. Make sure you do not get *ANY* glue inside the tube.
