I apply with the lathe off, then bring it up to speed (1200) to work in and polish.

OK, I used it for the first time on some Ironwood. How shinny is it suppose to get?
I assume it is not as shinny as a good CA finish.

It buffs up just as shiny as that other stuff....
You should wait 24 hours after applying before buffing - it hardens up quite a bit over time.

I put it on a paper towel and with the lathe around 1,100 to 1,500 rpm apply the wax. Then bear down with your finger tips. I fold the towel 4 of 5 times so that when my finger tips start getting warm it is time to stop. If there is a nice hard coating on the towel then you have done your job.

I put it on at 750 RPM, then hit it for ~1 minute with a heat gun set to 500 degrees. About every 3rd or 4th coat, I cut it back with 400 wet silicon carbide paper. Can build a 12-15 layer coat in under 20 minutes that looks like glass.
