WTB/WTT for 30mm rod: CLOSE PLEASE

Hi,
I need a section of PRECISION 30mm steel rod,
needs to be at least 10" long. Don't need much more than that
and 1 piece only. prefer "precision shaft" or "ground drill rod".

This is for a 30mm scope ring alignment rod on a rifle with dovetail
clamp rings that are a bear to align, don't want a new scope kinked!

I can order from McMaster Carr, at around 24.00 + shipping
but thought I'd throw a line out here before I order tomorrow.
Yeah, Brownells sells a rod, it's 80 bucks!!

Anyone have something laying around you'd sell or trade?

Thanks, John

John,

If you are only trying to do one or 2 rifles, you might want to look at bedding the scope to the rings as an alternative that does not need the precision rod. I did this to my muzzle loader a number of years ago and have had no issues. Here is a link.

Epoxy Method of Scope Mounting

Another option is Burris Signature Zee rings that basically self adjust by means of plastic ring inserts. I just installed a set of these on my new slug gun to try them out, but I haven't shot it yet.

Thanks Dennis,
It is only one rifle, I checked out the link you provided, Thank You.
That is something I have never heard of, it seems like it would work.
I have to get the rings aligned to one another, so I'm still needing a rod
for that, they attach with two screw clamps, one on either side, so they can
float position, side-to-side considerably depending on where you screw them down at.
They are good once aligned, but a pain to get there, unlike screw on bases with turn in rings!
