This is really a big one. For those going to provo this year, it would be nice to get a hold of something like this to attract a croud. I would like to make one like this for the outside of my shop.

I wonder who I would get the kit from.:)

Lee Biggers
The ever curious pen turner

I really have thought about doing a biggy for advertising purposes. If I make it out of wood, it would need to be kiln dried, like maybe for a log home. I would need a large lathe. I could turn different parts for it separately. I would need a whole lot of finish. I would plant that sucker where it could be seen by a nearby, high traffic road. I might even consult Guiness Book of World records, and make it functional if need be. I did make a big one out of all wood, with a small Bic refill, just for fun. It is essentially a nib pen, but I could make it a twist pen if I wanted to. It is 13 inches long, and looks most like an Americana. I really like the way the linked one turned out. It looks very real. I doubt it is functional though. [:)]

Wow. That is pretty neat. It looks like Jerry did a great job. I never saw that before, but now I know I won't rest until I do a really big one. Since I have a mini lathe, I may try to use PVC tubes instead for the barrels. I could still turn a wooden nib, and cap. Anyway, thanks for the link.
