hello folks

I have been enjoying getting to know my first dslr camera between teaching and turning this week.

I tried 3 different settings today just to see the results whilst roughing out an oak bowl.

The camera is a nikon d3200 with the kits lens 15 - 55mm

All of these were taken with the camera on a tripod

first off I tried the auto setting

then I tried shutter priority mode and set the shutter to 1/500s F stop 3.5 and ISO 800

still in shutter priority I upped the shutter speed to 1/1250s f3.5 but had to increase the iso to 6400 to compensate

I thought I would prefer the faster shutter speed, but I find I like the photos on the auto setting better because they convey a sense of motion to the shavings while keeping everything else pretty sharp. Nice pics!
