Hello fellows,
Would you please indentify this wood for me. As a novice I really like the tight cell fibers of this wood. As you can see I am making two stem vases but I really like the way it behaves when turning on my small lathe.
I would appreciate any help.
Thank You
Sammy

by the way how would I change my profile. We had moved from California to San Antonio TX
No clue on the timber; but on the profile:
- Click on your named profile on the top right blue bar on this page.
- click on 'Account details.' This should allow you to edit some info.

I hope that works.

Can you give us more information about the wood? Hard? Soft? Any chance you cold get a closer shot of that bark?

Here are some more pictures. A year ago A tree cutter was trimming in our neighborhood and asked him what that was and he didn't know. I picked up a couple branches of that.

Looks like something in the Maple family by the grain. With the thin bark I would guess Sycamore, I have one in my front yard that looks very similar.

Looks nice. I'm not an expert on wood but it seems to turn good.
My parents loved San Antonio! Hated to move but the job offer was too good to pass up.
