Hi there! I came across this blank end in my scrap pile and for the life of me, I don't know what type of wood it is. It's light brown/orange in color and lighter in color than Sapele. Kinda vague, I know, but hopefully somebody can help me out from the pics. Thanks in advance for your help!

Looks like a ring porous wood , possibly a hickory or an oak . Sand smooth the end shown in the center picture , blow off the dust and give us another shot . Gimpy`s question also helpful , soft or hard ?

I don't know about Spanish Cedar but it sure looks like the cedar you get from a lumber rack at Home Depot. I've made two barn doors out of fence board Cedar that looks just like this. Does it have a smell to it at all? The Cedar from Home Depot really doesn't have that "Cedar" smell but it has more of a musty type smell.
