Should have saved the label on the blanks. Turning it produced mustard-colored shavings. It has been coated with CA. Thank you.

I wear an organic vapor and dust mask, run a DC, position a fan in front of the lathe, and a shop air filter. If a skunk pooped on my head, I wouldn't smell it. :-)
Funny..if I don't wear that type of mask, I wake up with a light, but persistent cough in the morning (no matter what I turn).

Tony , I think you have an opportunity to make a pen no one has ever showed on IAP - a skunk hair pen . They have such a beautiful , soft tail . It would be a natural extension of the tail feather blanks sold on the forum .
 
Probably bocote, but I have some kingwood that looks a lot like that, and although it is usually redder, I have some tulipwood that looks a lot like that, too.
