It's 6:00 EST and there is no Wood ID Contest today:crying::crying:.

Here is a proposal:

Lets all go dig into the back corner of our shop or shed:ghost:. Find an old piece of wood your second cousin's uncle:monkey: gave you that no one has ever heard. Post a picture of it.

and

:bananen_smilies051:Make BOB figure out what it is!!! :bananen_smilies051:

I'm feeling incomplete as well today. The star must no longer be align or it could be there is no longer a wood id contest. :(

Next year if I get to sponsor it again we will have a full months worth of prizes not just 25 and with Mikes approval we might just run a contest or two during the year.

Here you go Bob

This fell down in my neighbors yard last summer.

Crape Myrtle
I have to keep playing I can not stop. I really like that contest it was great.
If I had a second guess I would list it also. But I am sticking with Crape Myrtle

I thought it was poplar...[/quote]

You might be right . . . We do have some poplar trees around. I've looked at bark pictures of both the silver Maple and some poplars and it might be either. He took down three trees at the same time and I was only scrounging around after most of it was cleaned up. This piece had no leaves. I am sure at least one of the trees he took down was a maple . . .

So 2 things are obvious:

1) I should NEVER be in charge of a contest like this

2) I was blasting away with a shotgun during the contest :smile-big:
