This is all wood that blew down from hurricane Rita.
I have got about 7500 board foot of pine and a couple thousand board foot of cedar. Trying to get enough pine to build a house. I figure I will need between 10 to 12 thousand board foot for a house. I should be geting sawed up in the next few weeks. I going to get a few hardwoods this weekend red oak and white oak.

Thats yellow paint on the end of the cedar. I was told that if you paint
the end of the logs when you have them sawed up that it will help the
board not to split on the end. The wood is suppose to dry faster on the ends
than the edges. I have cut most logs about 6 inchs over the length I want
so when I trim the ends I'll have the right length. I just have not had the
time to paint them all yet.

I dry wood all the time. You were told right on the painting. That slows the checking while drying, but if it isgoing to be any time before milling you need to de-bark the trees. That lets the moisture out so you get less splitting. I use polyurithane paint to coat the ends. Using this method you also have to keep of rain and snow in an open shed with good air circulation. I have to do small batches as I have limited storage space. I get around 90% usability with this process.
Just what I have learned the hard way.

Anchor seal is a much better end sealant than paint IMHO. You can get a 5 gallon bucket for $51 shipping included. I coat all my logs either as I cut them or within a few hours of cutting. Checking is extremely limited doing it that way.
