Wood from Craigs List

I hope this the appropriate place to post this. While perusing CL I ran across someone giving away wood, not just any wood but cherry. It was posted for nearly a month with no takers. The photo showed exactly what he was giving away. I need to make some tool handles. I don't have a wood stash and was planning to go to Woodcraft to find something appropriate. I assume those of you who do woodworking have a supply of woods. I was pretty excited to get this stuff. Every day is good, some days are even better.

If it's 8/4 as it looks (minimum!) That's about $40 worth of cherry. Looks perfect for tool handles. What a nice find.

I don't know what 6/4 or 8/4 means but I am pleased.

Wood thickness for stock like that is generally measured in quarters. 6/4 = 1.5inch thick, 8/4 = 2 inches thick, etc.

Nice score I have seen some free wood on craigs list and sometimes it is worth it some times not. I got some nice mesquite wood and black walnut branches just for hauling it away.
