Wood for Lure making ???? HELP

Hello, I have a guy local thats just getting into making lure and I was wondering what wood are good for lure making. He will be making Musky lures so they need to float yet be strong as those fish are big and mean,LOL. Any information is helpful. Thanks, Victor

The origional alphabet plugs were carved from cedar and I have some old circa 1940 plugs that are cedar. Remember a lure without teeth marks in it doesn't catch fish.:)
 
spanish cedar is also a good light wood to use for lure making. If you want to see some example, and see the blanks you can buy in packs, you can go onto the WoodCraft site and search for fishing stuff. They have both sets for lure making.
