I know there are some builders and flooring people on here. I am hoping someone can help me with a small problem.

One of my wife's plants leaked on our oak entry floor. We did not notice it until she rearranged the plants this week.

Is that a way I can fix/repair/camoflage this without stripping and refinishing the entire floor, or ripping up the section to the corner?

Thank you.

You might get away with Briwax (oak color or light brown) and 0000 steel wool. Once you get it to blend pretty well a random orbital sander with a buffing pad can bring in a nice sheen.

Get an area rug/walk off mat...

Seriously, Is the stain a topical stain, were you can scratch it with your fingernail? Or it is more likely down in the wood?

You will need to strip/sand down to bare wood the water has got under the finish.Should not be to hard to get it close as long as you know the stain color, and what the top coat is.Best advice is slow is good don't rush into it with a power sander first hand sand with the grain to see what happens.Good Luck,Victor

I'd avoid ripping and replacing at all costs... If the floor has ever been refinished then the replacement boards will need to be sanded down to the level of the rest of the floor creating more problems.

I'd sand it down, match the stain, and repair the top coat.
