Wood characteristics

Are the red marks common/uncommon or just bad piece of cocobolo. It's the poorest piece I have used.

Intertesting question. It is darker in person.....It did come out of a package of cocobolo. Was a real dark before it was turned. My concern is the red on the edge.

My gut tells me the package is getting returned. I'd use the other pieces if it did not look like someone's blood dripped on it.

Switch to a white back drop so we can see the color.
First picture looked like tulip wood , 2nd pic looked like coco.


It looks like a end cut just like the very top piece of wood on this chalker .
I kind of like them, if you plan on how you place the end cut pieces it can look pretty cool

It looks like a end cut just like the very top piece of wood on this chalker .
I kind of like them, if you plan on how you place the end cut pieces it can look pretty cool

Thanks. It is coco... Just a lousy piece. I'll look for a better grade next time. The economy packages are typical of getting what was paid for.

There is a slight crack on the end. It is my carry piece. Would not sell or give it. I do like it in general. Was my 1st Lever Action

Would not begin to guess what type wood you have there does it come close to anything here?

I strongly feel it's an orange piece of coco. Does look like one of the illustrated pieces

Here's a different batch. Same orange appearance... However it finished up real nice. I love the grain. I like it but prefer coco with a dark rich look.
