The wife saw a wood carver's show around the corner from our home and I decided to check it out. Lots of small carvings of woodsman Santas that were very intricately carved and then painted (wood carvers are very into massive beards on their figurines these days).

One guy had some cartridge pens for sale that no one had bought in addition to his carved work, but this wasn't the show for that anyway.

One guy I interviewed about pricing told me he took his hard cost of materials, added his hours x about half of minimum wage. Without taking a breath, he finished with "this is far more of a labor of love of woodcarving than anything else."

Seems many woodworkers just like us sell pieces to support more woodworking, not a family :)
