We want to be treat by BIL to some nice wine, but are clueless. I am basically as "dry" as they come, and my wife drinks a half a glass of some very sweet stuff one a month . We don't even keep it in the house. We want to buy my BIL a gift certificate to a nice online wine seller or something like that. We will probably spend $150. He normally buys very dry 15 to 25 dollar bottles. Any suggestions on an online retailer would be great. Thank you.

Online retailer might not be your best bet - good wine doesn't like to be jostled (aka bottle shock). Do you have any good local stores that can provide guidance?

How about buying a nice Bordeaux or Cotes du Rhone - very good regions for red wine, and protected 'appellacians'.

We are flying to New York and don't want to pack them. We also have no idea as to what or where to buy here other than what you just told me. Thank you very much for the advice though!

We are lucky here in Arkansas...more then enough vineyards within a close drive. Got to be at least one or two in Georgia?

Scott (good wine doesn't just come from place) B

Depending on what they like, this is not a dry wine, but it's not a sweet wine either.
I have ordered from the Three Lakes Winery.
They have a cranberry wine that I like a lot.

GET SOME OF THIS
Woodbridge Cabernet Sauvignon
at 6 bucks a bottle you could give him 25 of them and keep him happy for a while LOL

A gc is a good idea - it's tough to gauge someone's taste in wine! Some like Barefoot Merlot, others like Bordeaux - I personally would rather have a few bottles of a great wine than a lot of bottles of a lesser wine - but everyone's different! My dad would go for the "Double Dog Dare" at two bucks a bottle!

Tony there are multiple wineries in N GA, several in Dahlonega, Three Sisters is a good one. They are beautiful to visit. A gift card to wherever and a nice bottle of a local wine would be a nice touch. I'm not much of a wine drinker but if you end up in Ellijay, Blue Ridge, Dahlonega, etc you will find one of the downtown shops selling some most likely.
