Did anyone get an email this morning with their items on special? I had been getting them and haven't gotten one in two weeks.

Thanks

I'm not adding this as a jeer as I hope there's been a "misunderstanding".

As I indicated earlier, I had been receiving their emails each Sunday morning with info about specials. I have ordered from them based on the specials and had them in mind should I need certain products. My main problem with ordering too much is the shipping costs to the US.

Sometime in mid-May, they sent out an email offering free shipping to Canadian orders. I sent them an email asking if they could offer a discount of the same amount on US orders. Never heard a word. In fact, I stopped receiving their weekly emails.

Maybe a coincidence, but it appears I've been removed from their email list.

On the outward appearance, this seems like bad customer service. I hope I'm wrong.

That may have been a 1 or 2 day thing (free shipping to CDN orders), but certainly not a full time offer. No different than CS USA offering free shipping within CONUS.

They have always provided great service to me, although am not a big customer of theirs. I do know both Lilian and Bill personally!

I received their email special @ 8:00 am today!

On may 17th, I received an email saying they were offering a short-term special for free shipping to Canadian customers.

I sent them an email the next day saying I wished they would offer discounted shipping to their US customers and didn't hear anything back.

I then stopped receiving their weekly emails.

I guess I upset them suggesting they discount shipping to the US.

Knowing Bill and Lilian, I doubt you upset them and they removed you from their email list. I'd suggest you contact them either by email or by phone and ask what happened. They are great people to work with.

You've got me worried about you now!
You already posted this once in post # 5. Is it necessary to post it again?
Believe me, it would take more than your email to upset either Bill or Lilian.
Chalk it up to coincidence, and tell them you would like to be included in their emails. It will happen!

Mack, I was trying to be subtle but now I'll be open about my thoughts.

There's been several discussions over the years about US vendors not shipping to Canada or not offering the same courtesies to Canadian customers. In this case, it's a Canafian vendor not offering something
to US customers

And they didn't acknowledge my email.

I don't believe that will turn out to be the case here -- they are awesome people to deal with. There will be a good explaination for what you have experienced. I will apologize if I'm wrong.

BTW, it generally costs more to have an order shipped to my home in British Columbia from WWW, than it will cost to have it shipped to any CONUS address.

And over the last year, shipping has almost doubled from several US suppliers, to Canadian addresses. Whenever a US supplier has offered free shipping within CONUS, there has been no discount offered for shipments to Canada.

There has only been one vendor that I am aware of that wouldn't ship to Canada.

I made mention in a post or 2 that IAP members wouldn't ship to Canada, never any vendors. That was only because the IAP members weren't aware that it was very easy to mail to Canada.

I'm thinking you are making a mountain out of a molehill!

I think you are grasping at straws on this one. The complaints from the Canadian side was the fact that some US suppliers wouldn't even consider shipping to Canada because they didn't want to be bothered filling out the custom form which takes all of 2 minutes. You are now asking WWW to ship free to the US when they have a free shipping deal which is usually a few times a year. There is a huge difference between those 2 scenarios. By the way the free shipping on a lot of these is only for certain provinces. The reason for this. They have stopped doing a lot of the wood shows locally so they are trying to give back to those of us that would visit at the wood shows to pick up orders in order to save shipping costs but can not do so any more.

As Mack mentioned the postal costs have been doubling for cross border shipments. Why would you expect them to eat double the cost? Show me a US pen supplier that will ship free to Canada when they put a deal on.

Most free shipping offers in the South 48 do not extend to Alaska or Hawaii either.

We are used to that, and shipping quoted as more than the cost of the order.

This has been a very interesting thread based on the responses to my posts.

For the record, the folks at William Wood-Write contacted me and said they had reset my email so I could again receive the emailed specials. They said they didn't know why I stopped receiving them but got me started again.

Just seems odd that I ask they consider offering free shipping and I get my email cut-off. I'll give the benefit of a doubt and chalk it up to coincidence.

My thoughts about the fairness with the shipping rates seems to have raised several comments. Why is it that shipping rates is one of the most fussed about subjects? I try to suggest that I felt US customers should be extended the same courtesies as Canadian customers when free shipping is offered and I'm told I shouldn't worry about it. How many US vendors offer adjusted shipping to non-US customers when offering free shipping to US locations? I see it fairly often.

Enough said about this, but I'll be watching for comments on this subject going forward.

I guess I should apologize for causing a ruckus.
