Made this as a gift for a Uncle who turned 75 last Sunday.
Heck better late than never.
This is from The Whiskey Barrel blanks I am selling for a buck a piece.
Wood is very hard---sharp tools are a must.
When you turn the pen---it smells like the inside of a wiskey barrel.
Mixed up some BLO and Mineral Sprits to pop the grain.
Finish coat of TSW.

good looking pen, Gary. Know end to the types of material one can turn. My students experience all the time with different materials. Keep up the fine turning. Have fun.[:I]

Serge you would have to buy more than tree blanks--the postage would be a bear on three. I could make you a heck of a deal on a 100 and ship by boat---LOL

Anthony the pen is from a sour mash whiskey barrel lid.
I bought a bunch of barrel tops and sawed them up into blanks. They are for sale in the classifieds.
I have sold several but still have a bunch left.
