I just bought a penturners package off craigslist and still got a killer deal even thought the spindle shaft is bent. My question is, where would be the cheapest place to buy one. I'm sure the obvious answer would be through Jet, but as a retailer myself, I realize that the source isn't always the best place to buy. Any info is greatly appreciated.

Jet might be the only option other than someone selling a used lathe.

Going to a machine shop and having them attempt to straighten the spindle shaft or make you a new spindle.

For bearings there are many alternatives -- For spindles there are few and custom machine work is usually more expensive unless you have a buddy with a lathe and some good steel for the applicaton.

If somthing was done to bend the spindle, the bearing replacement should be high on the list to replace and examination of the bearing seats should be part of the replacement process.

You might look at this for apprachs - a different jet.
