Where to buy barrel brushes?

I've searched on all my favorite web sites for the set of barrel brushes I use to clean out brass tubes. I have a set of four brushes, but I have worn out the brushes and can't find anywhere that sells them. Local gun shops have special kits for different guns but $59.95 and up isn't an option.

I believe I got these from Woodcraft, but they don't stock them anymore.

Any help is appreciated.

What do you clean out with them? Are they strong enough to clean out glue or just general dust and debris?

how about the brass brushes from harbor freight, looks that the set in the link, but with brass and steel brushes

I use brass bore brushes for cleaning rifles, would that work for your use. I think they work really well.

I get mine from wallyworld. I buy the individual ones like in this kit,

Then turn handles for them.

You don't have to get Tipton, any brand will do. For a handle I drill a hole in the end of a 1/2" dowel and epoxy the brush in.

Since I do most everything on the lathe I just chuck up a bore brush that fits snugly inside the brass and with the lathe running at a couple hundred RPM slide the blank onto the brush.

:biggrin: Sorry Mike, I just pulled a pic at random. I like tipton products, very durable stuff. These brushes work really well for cleaning the tubes up.

I love this kit Lenny! With just about every caliber in the safe...it rocks! But I'll be getting another for pen barrels!!

Agree with Seamus +1 on HF - not a bad price and they last awhile. I haven't found the need to have exactly the same size as the tube. They still clean well.

My local small town hardware store has stainless steel furnace brushes that work well for me. I believe they are used to clean the jets for the burners. Several diameters are available, and they give a nice clean inside.
