Hello Everyone, I know some of us have shown pictures of our shops from time to time, but sometimes our shops can look overwhelming to a new woodworker.

So I thought I would show where I started and what I have now...this has been a few years in the making now, And I would love to see where you all started and where you are now...please share if you can

Here you can see my amazing setup, a $100 plastic Craftsman table saw with a free miter saw and planer sitting on a folding table. And in the background, you can see my 60-year-old also free drill press. I did not even have a lathe yet

Now my shop is 30 feet square thats, 9 meter square for our overseas freinds, and it is still a work in progress.

From one side you can see I have a Paulk workstation in the center with my Jet table saw built in (I dont have a cabinet saw yet). On the back wall I have a 18" Jet bandsaw and a benchtop Jet drillpress. On the right side by the car door, I have a 16" planer and a 6" jointer, and on the right I have a dewalt scroll saw with an older Jet 10x14 lathe.

From the other direction I built a workbench out of two toolboxes with a Makita miter saw in between. On the left side you can see an old drum sander I am trying to fix, and on the right is a small stabilization setup and a 24" square cnc.

And last but not least what everyone loves to see in this group my Lathe, I went with the Harvey T40 Lathe, I love it and I really dont need anything bigger. It is also the only tool in my entire shop I bought new, evertyhing else I found second hand.

And the drawers are all organized the way I like them, the top one is turning tools then below that is centers and drives, and below that is chucks and so on

Thank you very much, I understand some are limited on space, but dont short yourself anything is possible. Almost every tool in my shop I purchased off craigslist in a non-working state for very cheap, and I just fixed them myself. Not to mention if your focus is on "smaller turning" then you dont really need the big tools, benchtop versions are great as well.

As long as your happy and enjoying your time in the shop it does not matter how big it is or how many tools you have.

I can only dream of having that much space for a shop. Many satisfying projects to come out of that shop.
Yes I got extremely lucky in 2015 my wife and I purchased our home and it had a large garage/outbuilding, and my wife and I never really parked our cars in there, so she "let" me have it 🤣

I will say I have had alot of projects and alot of firewood made lol.

But in those years there are two projects that stand out for me, when my wife's granfather passed they had a shoebox for his military awards and being military myself I could not let that happen, so before his funeral I made a custom shadow box for his awards

And during Covid we were very bored so I spent 6 months building a custom 8' slate pool table out of Mahogony

I know they are not pens, I have made alot of those as well ;)

You are very talented. Love the pool table. I need to make the same shadow box for my Dad's military flag and things. I started a few years back but I wanted to get more info about my Dads service because he never really talked to us about that time of his life much. Now that he has passed and all my relatives have also passed there is no references. I wrote to the Gov. to try to get some info but unfortunately that was around the covid time and they told me due to that they were consintrating only on recently deceit members because of lack of staff. So I put it on the side but it is something I need to pick up again and get that project done. I have to deep dive into this. Have to find the address of the Gov agency to acquire these papers again. Thanks for showing your shop. We like all kinds of photos to better get to know the members here. that is what we do here.
