I have seen a few threads and one is currently running about which is the better click pen. My question is what fails? Has anyone figured out which part(s) fail causing the pen not to work or jam? I dont make many pens and haven't made a click yet, but there are few moving parts. Is it poor fit part to part to start with? failure from wear to the parts from cheap materials being used? Any answers would be appreciated.

Mike,

Good question. I actually have a click pen I have to fix for someone. I had never made it before, but she wanted a slim clicker and I had read the 7mm from PSI were garbage so I tried the 8mm. It only worked for a few months. Hopefully I can disassemble it without destroying it and figure out what is going on with it. If I figure anything out I will post it.

Most of the time for me it's when a little plastic part breaks. Usually while installing it. Since then I bought the all metal click mechs from Richard Greenwald and haven't had an issue since.

I've had one 7mm kit fail and the mechanism just got stuck with the button all the way in. I never could figure out what caused it.

The best click pen IMHO is PSI's Power. It's a robust pen and the pencil uses 2mm lead. I never have liked .7mm. I guess I have too heavy a hand for it.
