When life gives you lemons...

I was working the blue blank with my roughing gouge when the line I was working let go and the gouge hit the brass nut on the end of the mandrel, bounced back and blew out the last half inch of the blank. This is what I decided to do with my mistake.

First - Wonderful final result. The recovery is beautiful as is the final pen.

Second - I actually prefer to make pens with this style of segmentation - "end caps", so your application is great. I also use credit cards, etc, and they work fine.

On a design concept. When planning ahead for these end caps, I prefer about a 1/4" (maybe 3/8) section. When it is an "opps," then you have to work with what you got!
