What's up with maglite?

It might have something to do with the fact that they sell these flashlights all over the world, and the metric system is the more common system. The only country that uses the imperial measurement system for darn near everything is the U.S., so this could save them on having to have two different packages for the one product.

Because King Henry I has been dead for a few years now & no-one can remember how far it was from the tip of his nose to his outstretched index finger :wink: & the metric system is a much more precisely defined & internationally accepted system of measurements.
