I've done maybe 8-10 shows and $$ wise worst show I lost about $20.00 after all have been said and done. Best show ever I went home with a decent profit.

My question is what is a good show profit wise? I not being noisy I just want to know if I'm wasting my time with show or just not finding the right shows.

Here in Louisiana I have done about 5 shows. This is my first year trying it and even selling pens for a lot less then some or most sell them for, after cost of kits and expenses I have only made about $400.00 as the best and if my wife was not selling marshmallow guns I would have lost $ on the last one (which was free to show.
I can tell you it is tough to make money. You may make some $ but you aint gunna get rich.

Ok, taking your premise of a one day show, I would assume it's a local venue so no travel and hotel expense I would expect sales of $1000-$1500.00
That would be called a $1000 wonder by Ed!!!!!!!!!!!!

At multi-day venues, I always looked at it as "one day at a time" numbers.

If we paid $600 for a 3 day show, it was $200 a day (plus hotel, food, etc). Then, Dawn and I evaluated the show based on daily income. We worked a full day (usually 7 AM to 9 PM), so were we paid for the day??

It always irritated me that Sunshine Artist evaluates shows on the "income". How can a single day show EVER beat a four day venue??? Yet, there are many single day shows that pay better than a four day, where all the visitors come on Saturday and you waste Thurs, Fri and Sunday.

Just more observations!!

Oh, and a "one-day wonder" has to give you $1000 or better from booth fee of $100 or less. (Ed's definition!!)

The only guy who makes $10,000 plus at a one day show is the guy selling the $8 hot dogs and cotton candy.

It may happen once in a great while, but that's an incredible show, not a good show!

Since your question is "what is a goodsingle day show?" I'd agree with Ed and Roy. I expect to make $1000 or more over the booth fee in order to call it a good day. The last couple of years haven't been very consistent for me according to that standard. In this economy, I have adjusted my expectations and cut my costs by not traveling as much and doing less expensive shows.

I've had 4 $10,000-$12,000 shows in the last 2 years all 4 were 3 day shows and all were incredible..It took 3 weeks to wipe the smile off my face..If I ever do a $10,000 one day show .......never mind it just makes me tinkle thinking about one...

I be jumping with joy when I break the 1k mark. I'm not sure if what will happen if I ever come close to 10K. Someone may have to scrape me off the floor:)

Most one day shows are church/school/festival affairs with a modest entry fee and since I wouldn't bother traveling far from home for that type of show, $1000 over entry fee would nice. There are some botique/gallery type shows with $400-500 entry fees for a one day event, for me to call one like that a good show I would have to bring in at least $2000.
