What wood?

I was at Rockler going through their scrap bin. Ran across small piece of wood they size of a pen blank. It was strange to me. So much so that I almost tossed it back in thinking it was a piece of scrap particle board or something of the like. The Rockler guy didn't know what it was either and he said I could just have it. So today I turned it and this was the result! Turned out really nice but I still don't have a clue what I'm looking at. Any thoughts?

I asked A I and the answer was probably Amboyna Burl. Did it have an aroma? If so what did it smell like. (the other possibilities they mentioned were Redwood Burl ( really doubt that one) , Thuya Burl, Maple Burl (doubt this one also) or Camphor Burl (this one smells)

I don't recall a specific smell. I do recall thinking it was dustier than other pieces I've turned to this point, for what it's worth. Probably neither here nor there. I haven't turned a piece of Ambonya Burl yet but you guys could be right. It does resemble the picture above. May never know for sure. Appreciate the suggestions though.

Absolutely beautiful wood. I have no idea either but it looks like a burl of some sort. Beautiful pen !
