I am wanting to make a few peppermills and the one's I have chosen require a 1.5"x1.5" blank, and the other a 2x2 blank. I need to drill them through with a 25mm Forstner bit. What are you folks using to hold this type of larger stock? I've got a 4" Supernova2 chuck for now--looking for advice feeback on how to get at this project.

I use the medium jaws on my Barracuda 2 chucking system and they work really well for that size of stock. I used them to make my bird houses and then I can turn them around and chuck them back in after I make a tenon and then finish up the bird houses. Well gotta go. Good luck with what you do Fay

25 mm is a bit smaller than I drill the barrels of my pepper mills -- 1 1/16 is the most common size and it is good because the 1 inch (25 mm) pin jaws allow be to hold the inside of the hole and register on that when needed.

I normally turn with bushings as TBC but final cleanup uses the pin jaws.

I have a couple mills in the works now!! 50 and 75mm jaws for 2x's a nd 4x's respectively. The SN2 is a great chuck and you shouldn't need to move up.
You can also round blanks between centers and turn your tenon that way too.
Like Ken mentioned, 1-1/16 is a great width to bore since just about eveyone's spigot jaws are 1" so rather than a jamb chuck...use a real one! I also use a Barracuda with spigot jaws all the time since they work great for pen blanks on the lathe...no reason what so ever for "Pen" jaws. Good luck!!

I use mine for drilling my pens also and they sure do come in handy. I get straight holes and I don't use my drill press for the drilling unless it is some thing I making other than on a lathe and need a hole or two.. Barracuda 2 is a great chuck, but then I'm sure all of them are but it all depends on what you like the best.... We all have different likes and dislikes... Fay
