I'm no snake aficionado, but it looks like a little rattlesnake to me. Which means it looks like some nice pens to me! : )

Definately looks venomous. Shape of the head indicates viper. Not sure of the type. I agree with the rattlesnake...but don't see any visible rattles/Desert Massasauga Rattlesnake?

It is most definitely a rattlesnake. It looks like a Prairie Rattlesnake according to the information I found. It could be the speckled or twin-spotted but it is a rattlesnake none the less. Here is a link to rattlesnakes in Arizona that you can compare. Arizona Rattlesnakes

Not usually found as north as you, it's probably a Twin-spotted Rattlesnake.

Seamus that was shot with a macro and as close as I wanted to get lol. I am just glad this was not the momma snake when I picked up the sandbox. Not enough TP in the house to correct that.
I did go and get the Snake a way and spread it out already. Now onto the grandkids place to do the same just in case

Looks to me like the one that bit Angela Jolie on the left breast in a movie I saw once. I can't be sure because I wasn't looking directly at the snake.

Baby rattlesnakes don't have rattles. They develop over time, with each time they shed their skin they get a layer of a rattle. It takes two or three moltings before they can make the rattle sound.

Well I cant find it but it is out there and I think because of the are it might actually be a mojave greenback the last of that species I would want in my yard.

Snake-B-Gone is basically just powdered sulfur. I used to get lots of snakes in my greenhouse until I sprinkled some sulfur powder around the foundation.
