I found this blank in my stock pile and turned it down. I'm not sure just what kind of wood it is but I'm thinking Cocobolo. It has a lot of purple in it as I have see in some Cocobolo. It has a kind of burnt wood smell when I drilled and trimmed the blank. Any ideas???

It has the look and color of Monkey Pod....Was it light and kind of soft...
Monkey Pod smells a little toxic to me...
Cocobolo a harder woos smells a little sweet to me????
..

Here is the other half of the blank, now that I think about it it is softer the cocobolo. it did seam to load up the sandpaper a good amount.

I sold a bunch of Monkey Pod a wile back HERE It looks a lot like it. Monkey pod is quite light and soft and has a very deep chartreuse and open grain. For me when sanding it gives off a very fine dust that burns my eyes one of the very few woods that effect me... Some images below...

I'd almost be willing to bet it's Kingwood as it has that purplish cast in the sunlight.
Also the grain looks a lot like Kingwood.
