A guy from another board sent me some pen blanks. When I got them I emailed him back and asked what they were but he said he didn't remember, just grabbed a bunch and sent them. The first picture is of the turned wood. It was waxed on both ends and was easy to turn. Any ideas? Also included a photo of my first two pens. The zebrawood pieces don't match as I blew up the other half and had to make a new one.

They are rough, but I am learning.

I still vote for the Black & white Ebony... here is a pen I did from the B&WE...and a bowl from bocote..

I think bocote has more grain pattern usually than your pen... nice pens by the way.

well, the second one is called "Molten Metal" I think ..
I'd go for bocote, too.. although the coloring isn't what I've normally
run into. I thought marblewood for a second, but the color isn't the
norm for that, either .. and the grain pattern isn't quite the same.

My first thought was black and white Ebony, but after getting out a few of each I think it is in fact Bocote.Check out the pic top is b&w Ebony bottom is Bocote.
