This tool came with my lathe when I purchased it. Unsure what it is, though I think it's some sort of scraper. Can someone ID it for me and let me know what it can be used for? The person who owned the lathe before me turned cups, small bowls and boxes, so I'm assuming it's good for that sort of work.

Sorry for the size of the actual photos after they're clicked upon, I have no means to resize them on my computer at work.

Thanks for the link. I probably just watched the same video. I may have to play with it, haven't used it at all since I purchased that lathe. Thanks also for ID'ing it for me. It was sort of driving me nuts having an unidentified tool floating around my workspace.

yes it is a spindlemaster or some ones else's brand of the same thing. they come in different sizes. i have one in 1/2 inch and love it for finishing blanks.

Seems like it after seeing the video. Might be hard to tell from the picture, but it looks like the original owner may have messed up the bevel a bit. I also think he was using it to turn end grain. So far as I know, I got every lathe tool he had and there's nothing in that collection that is a bowl turning tool.

Maybe your bevel is just ground differently than mine. Maybe mine is different too - I got it used.

By the way, I keep mine sharp with I diamond hone on the flat top. Couldn't be easier.
