What is this lamination?

I picked this laminated block up at a show in Waco. What is it and where is a source for more?

Fancy (ie, expensive) plywood sold to wood turners. The individual layers are dyed different colors, and the grain of the layers all run in the same direction (unlike regular plywood where the grain on alternate layers are at 90deg to each other for strength). The glue holding it together is a bit tough on tools - ordinary tools require more frequent sharpening, but carbide works well.

Trade names include Dymondwood, Colorwood, Color Grain, etc. All of the major turning supply houses carry it, and you usually see it at turning shows.
 
I get mine from a place about 10 miles from my house. They mfg, the Cricket guns for Wal-mart:

They are about 10 miles from my home:

Give them a call and the will ship you some, it is expensive.
it is sold by the pound, the more you buy the cheaper it gets

Wow!

Thanks for all the sources & info.....I need to get into that basement! I want to turn a vase or a small bowl out of that material....as mentioned, I have discovered that it is hard on tools though!:laugh:
