I guess I'm going to blame my new bi-focals but I bought some "Gatsby Grande" kits instead of "Gatsby" kits. They're still in shipment so I can't compare them so can someone help me with a question?

What is the difference between the two "Gatsby" style kits?

Thanks

Ray

One is larger just like the Sierra and Sierra Vista kits with the Vista being a larger bodied kit. It is hard to decipher them but if side by side you can see. Just more meat on the bushings as they say. You will like them.

From PSI site

"Bigger, thicker and 10% wider than our original Gatsby, this hefty pen Chrome and Gun Metal pen will surely impress. Features the same comfortable, smooth writing characteristics of the original Gatsby. Easy to turn and assemble with a single tube."

They use different bushing also.... I found out the hard way. :)
Yes but you can easily use the lesser kit bushings to make the larger kit. You would have to use a set of calipers but you should be using them anyway. Just a work-around if need be.

Not true. The Gatsby uses 27/64" tubes, and the Gatsby Grande uses 3/8" tubes. Unlike the Sierra and Sierra Vista, which both use 27/64" tubes.

Gatsby on the left, Gatsby Grande on the right. You can see that the body thickness on the Gatsby is less than on the Gatsby Grande. I hope you ordered Grande bushings with the kits.

I make many Gatsby Grande's. As Jim (qquake) states is accurate ^. Definitely different bushings, 3/8 drill, etc.
It is the only pen that I started turning with a nearly straight (not convex) profile(but that is a matter of personal taste). I just made this one.
Blurry photo, but you get the idea.

That goes to show you you can not lump all these sierra look a likes in one catagory. I never made the Gatsby so I spoke out of line. Thanks for the correction.

Lava something ; I bought it from Exotics (look under his Lava category). I have many of them.
I have a ton of CA that is approaching a year old...so I applied several coats to it. They are 100% opaque turn very easily, but a little powdery. That's another reason why I add the CA, but one doesn't have to.
Be well my friend.

Yep, bought a "Starter kit" as it was cheaper than buying 5-kits individually and it comes with bushings.
