what is Slip Painted

Came accross this picture, i thougth it look nice.

The description said the bird was "slip painted"


did a google but all i found were more examples of slip painted goodies.

Never found a place that said what or how you slip paint

so how does one slip paint.....[?]

Slip is the liquid plaster/ pottery... Slip paint is when you mix water based paint with slip and paint it on the pottery...everything is then kiln fired....

guess i cant use this idea for turning......unless......
i mix ca/resin/? with paint hmmmm... as he goes slipping off into the sunset....

slip painting is used in ceramics. the bird is "painted on" with a bottle, like a 2 oz. CA bottle with a darker clay stain. Like a person putting lettering on a birthday cake with a frosting bag.
