Also, what does PITH stands for?

Boiled Linseed Oil, and Pen In The Hat, respectively.

Boiled Linseed Oil. It can really make some grains pop in a big way but the wet rags can catch fire by spontaneous combustion. Just be sure to lay them out flat to dry or put them in a fireproof receptacle.
