While perusing the "Finishes" section of the CSUSA catalog, I came across two products that appear - at least from the descriptions - to be fairly well-suited for pens. The first, Clear Coat Epoxy, can be used "...where a heavy, durable, high gloss finish is required", while the second, Gel Poly Finish, "...produces a super hard finish that can be polished to a mirror-like finish if desired".

Being that the most popular finishes here seem to be CA or lacquer - both of which I currently use with varying degrees of success - I was curious to know if anyone had any experience with either of these other products, and could either recommend them or caution against their use.

The main draw of CA and probably lacquer is the speed in which it cures. I have my own problems with CA, but I keep trying! If you don't mind waiting, Enduro is pretty much fool proof and its water based, which means very little fumes. I think Beartooth Woods has a sample pack of sealer and finish with great instructions. Sorry I have no experience with the two products you mentions. But be aware, those catalogs also tout the durability of friction polish.

PS. From those products names, I would assume they are durable, probably take time to cure and smell to high heaven. They might even give the wood an amber tint. Water base finishes are usually clear clear.
