Quick question. I have looked through the search function and have not seen any particulars as to what is used in the "wet sanding". Do you use water, BLO or some other concotion?

Thanks in advance.

I have used BLO, CA, Shellac, Lacquer, Watco Danish, and sanding sealer. My favorite is sanding sealer with 400 grit paper. This would be to fill open grain.

The only time I would consider using water is on acrylics, stabilized wood, or to smooth out final finish coats.

Depends on what I'm turning and what I'm trying to accomplish.
Most of the time on bowls, I use the same finish I plan on using as the final product. Tung oil is a bit expensive so I will use danish oil for wet sanding. I like the looks of BLO but it is to soft of a finish for long term use. I thin danish oil and BLO 50/50 for sanding.

On pens if I am trying to pop the figure I will use oil. If I need to fill in a void I will use CA or oil depending in the final finish.
