I like the looks of Wenge.. it's a good wood to turn, but the open grain does get to be a trick to deal with.
I turned a pepperemill from Wenge.. thought I would never get it smooth enough to finish... finally started smearing CA over it... took about a 1/2 bottle of med CA to get it smooth. Only thing it looked almost totally black when finished, didn't show the beautiful chocolate and black strips I wanted... fortunately, it was just what the lady who bought it was looking for.
