I wanted to work on a little more challenging project, I couldn't find a jig to make the diamond shaped segment so I figured I'd layer instead. I used aluminum and Plexiglas sandwiched together for the highlights, and the segmenting glued u cleanly, the finish suffered. Running a CA finish on rough textured wood has been a weak spot for me for a while and apparently the skill has faded some. i couldn't sand aggressively because I needed to keep the acrylic and aluminum surfaces clean, next time I need a denser wood with less tearing out. I did get a lot of the roughness filled in, but chipping on the edges and small dimples in the surface are a bummer. I can't be too upset as it's the first time I've done a CA finish on wood in probably a year or so. Could have gone a lot worse..
